Will be interviewing for a Curatorial (!!!!) internship at El Museo del Barrio in NYC.
Why is this totally awesome?
-NYC
-This museum is everything I want to do in graduate school
-Curatorial experience is so hard to get, because, well, everyone thinks they can/should curate.
Also, given that IRT is an impossibility, I may be able to get out of going to Chicago, since it would explicitly mean not doing anything else this summer. Not even getting thesis work done! The coordinator for MMUF just needs to let me know..
I mean, I've taken three seminar-level classes that deal explicitly with critical theory (and probably more that engage it less directly). One of them is essentially "Introduction to Critical Theory" and I took it my Sophomore year. My advisor was on top of her game when she told me to do that; my taking of badass classes has only been increased since then.
So, hopefully this will free up my summer for potential internships. If none of those work out, I've got interviews set up for various secretary-like jobs throughout campus. Woo?
