"Flip over the chessboard!"
I went to see District 9 today. It was awesome! The aliens were cute, and the weapons were badass, the main character kind of p*ssed me off, and the action was awesomeee!

My favorite part was where they unwrapped his hand and BAM ALIEN HAND. OH GOD THAT WAS SO COOL <3<3<3333
I also loved the part at the end where they tore off the guy's head in one swipe. Giant robot secnes were also eyecandy <3
I think I mainly loved this movie for it's straight-forward action scenes that just continued without any filler time that a lot of movies have. They also didn't eff around with romance (other than the wife wondering what happened to him), so the fact that I didn't have to stare at sparkly gazing and hot kissing was awesome. No princesses in distress either. I liked the movie because it was so simple in it's storyline and just plain awesome.
Cons were the music. There was no amazing music. You don't really have time to be listening for it while humans and aliens are going at it with blasters and semi-automatics, but still, it felt kind of empty. The main character was also annoying in a weird way. He was determined at some things, but the ignorant, opportunistic feel was tedious. The medical torture scenes were annoying to watch too (my friend had her face covered the entire time haha). It looked painful, but it was just... irritating. A lot of the things they did didn't even make sense. Everyone gasped at the nail scene, but I didn't feel anything :\ (too much Higurashi?) They added the nice effect of the camera shaking around like an actual person was holding it, but the shaking continued even when it was obvious it was not being filmed by a person (plot-wise). I didn't mind it because it added to the action effect, but overall sometimes it made angles and situations hard to understand haha.
But good movie! I'd totally watch it again ;D
