crazy Spring Break 2010
The past two weeks have been awesomely awesome. I left the Wednesday before last to go to Jacksonville, FL to support the Big Red Basketball team in an NCAA expenses paid trip. Totally baller. Walked onto tarmac, handed an envelope with a $100 & $5 bills, and then walked right onto a private plane. It was ~really~ cool. Stayed in the Radisson in the middle of a hotel strip mall with nothing but a Dave N Busters across the street. We all had fancy sleep number beds.
Ended up going to the Jax Zoo, though it took 2 hours of the suckiest public transit ever to get there one way. On the way back we were picked up 3 times ( I mean really, people?). Bus stop closest to the zoo was the sketchiest thing EVER. Next to some old railroad tracks on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere. Good planning Jax.
All this while I was missing basically a week of school. And Dragon Day, but it was worth it. The Big Red CRUSHED Temple, and then handed it to Wisconsin. Wisc. had a 'varsity band' but a badass mascot. It was crazy (see FB photo albums). I made it onto ESPN.com! SO COOL.
Got back from Sweet 16 in Syracuse yesterday. Kentucky beat us. But man, if we had only turned up the heat on the 3 pointers we could have won! ~Sigh~. Mom/Dad came up for the game, brought me food (thank jesus!) so I can successfully feed myself until the dining halls open tomorrow night. Watched the hockey game, and we lost that too.
Damn. We were doing SO WELL in sports, and then just shut the door. Whockey lost in TRIPLE OVERTIME in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP to Minnesota Duluth, Basketball made it to Sweet 16 and then lost, and then hockey lost to UNH after having beaten them earlier in the season and having had 3 straight shutouts. goddammit.
