Title: Hellfire Revisted
Fandom: Astonishing X-Men
Characters: Emma Frost/Scott Summers
Prompt: 002. Middles
Word Count: 406
Rating: PG
Summary: Emma takes Scott back to her past and is reminding that we all have a chance to start over.

There was no music to fill the emptiness of the room. No dancers on the poles, or men in thousand dollar suits sipping scotch while they conducted business beneath the watchful eye of specially trained ladies. For once the Hellfire Club was silent as the pair walked through the room.

Emma knew Scott was close by, she could feel his mind as surely as she could hear his near silent step. But for that moment she was alone with her memories. It felt like just yesterday she had first come through those same doors. She could remember the feel of the pole in her hands, the first song she ever danced to. Emma could have told Scott the name of her den mother in those early days and the name's of the girls that she had shared a locker and table with. The colour of carpets had changed, the walls were a new wallpaper but for a moment, in her head, it was the same as it had been back then.

Leaving Scott where he stood, she slipped up onto the stage. She felt like a teen once more, scared and excited all at the same time. Worried she wouldn't do well, more worried they'd find out what she truly was. The mind control had started so carefully at first; just small suggestions to make sure that her pockets were lined and she wasn't merely living on the minimum that the other girls survived on. It was only once she was in the Champagne room that she'd taken to completely fleecing her victims.

Turning, she looked to Scott. For a long moment they merely stared at each other. She wondered what he was thinking but she hadn't touched his mind. Not yet. She wasn't sure she wanted to know what he was thinking, what horrible things he thought of her because of what she had once done to survive.

"So this is it,' she murmured, shrugging as if to dismiss it all.

Scott shook his head, striding closer and then up onto the stage to wrap his arms around. "No, this wasn't the beginning. This was just the middle ground in a long, long life, Emma. One that I plan to be there for the end of."

It had been the first kiss she ever received on that stage and she knew it would also be the last.

Title: A Mind Lost
Fandom: Astonishing X-Men
Characters: Emma Frost/Scott Summers
Prompt: 003. Ends
Word Count: 494
Rating: PG
Summary: Scott is left trapped in his own mind by the woman he loves only to remember what brought him to this place.
Author's Notes: AXM 14 Spoilers

His mind had become a myriad of memories brought about by the mutant telepathy of the woman he loved. Scott's early childhood, the happiness and joy of those moments and the sweetness of childhood. Being a child was the easiest thing anyone ever did in their life. There was no judgement, no love and all pain was just a kiss away from being better. It was a time when running in circles was the height of joy and Christmas morning was an excitement unparalled, year after year. Childhood was a sweetness to balance the bitterness of life.

There was Jean. Fiery yet practical Jean. His first love and first lover. She had been the one that had opened his heart after he'd closed it off all those years ago. She had taught him that the brick wall he had built around his heart were holding him back, keeping him from feeling so much more than just the pain he was trying to protect himself from. It had been she that had left him open to fall for that which was unattainable and yet had been offered to him on a silver platter.

No, a platinum platter that was encrusted with diamonds and trimmed in gold and ivory. Emma was everything Jean wasn't. She was passionate and reckless, a wicked woman with a heart beneath that had shown through her eyes when Scott looked at her. She had offered him the world and Scott had taken it without a second thought. First on the astral, hidden away from all but his own mind and then, after Jean had been lost to him once more, they had let the world see what they shared. And Scott had faced the hatred and loathing for his choice. Emma was a villain, she was hated and despised. She was his.

He remembered the accident that had brought about the headaches and then the concussive blasts. It was something he had blocked from his mind until now when he could hide from nothing as Emma peeled back the layers of his mind with the finesse of a surgeon. Here she let him wallow, reliving the event, feeling every pain and agony, physical and mental. Only once he was immersed in it, where his only thought and memory was that moment, did she point out the truth; reminding him that it was his choice that had left him permanently staring at the world through crimson coloured glasses.

So it was at the beginning he found the end, unaware of when Emma left him there, glasses in hand and drool trickling down his chin. It was over and he'd brought his own pain upon himself and the only person he had to thank for giving him that gift was the one person he wanted to hate, wanted to loathe and despise. Yet he couldn't because all he could find was the pain and memories of that moment.

Title: Geode
Fandom: Astonishing X-Men
Characters: Emma Frost/Scott Summers
Prompt: 004. Insides
Word Count: 624
Rating: PG
Summary: What happens when Scott gets a little tipsy
Author's Notes: Pre-AXM

Gladly Emma had accepted Scott's wishes to reassamble the team. Not because she had any desire to live that life once more but because it put such a light into his smile that she could deny him nothing. He was like a boy, like a kid in a candy store and if this was what it took to make him happy, she would stand by him and support him every step of the way. Even if it meant dealing with the likes of Logan and Kitty.

Strolling through the halls, the hour late, she assured herself that all of the early arrivals, and those that never went home, were tucked away into their beds and not roaming the mansion at that ungodly hour. Pausing outside of Scott's door, she realized he was still within his office and that was enough to make her frown. There was no knocking, just a slight nudge to his mind and then she walked in, closing the door behind her.

"You do know that without sleep, you'll never make it to the opening ceremonies." Beginning without preamble, leaning back against the door in case he didn't wish the intrusion. What she found was Scott alone, sitting at his desk and staring at a rock. A rock. Emma was beginning to worry about the man she loved.

"Do you know what this is,' he asked, picking up the large round stone and holding it up for her perusal.

"A rock seems a bit simple,' she admits, stepping closer to have a better look. "It looks like a geode, Scott.' Taking the seat across from him, she crossed her legs neatly and leaned forward to peer, not at the rock but at Scott. "And the purpose of this geode is?"

"I was thinking about the team and all it has to offer. The passion you offer, the heart of Kitty, my own practicality and Hank's brilliance. And then I got to thinking about Wolverine and just what it was I thought he would bring to this team that I had handpicked to take up the mantle of heroes once more."

He paused and Emma resisted the urge to make a curt comment. It wasn't often that he got like this but when Scott did, it was just best to let him have his head, remember your patience and let him finish it out. Only then did one find out what he was going on about and, usually, it was worth it.

"So what? Are you planning to hit him on the head with that when he acts up?" Even Emma's patience with Scott had it's bounds. "I don't really think it's going to do you much good, adamantium or not.

Scott didn't answer, instead picking up a small hammer on his desk. Staring at her, he rapped the flat end to the side of the geode until it cracked and fall to his desktop in several pieces. The insides glimmered and glinted in various shades of purple, the amethyst almost black in some places. "Logan is like this rock,' he finally says, picking up the large piece and offering it to Emma with a smile that made him look like a little boy, all cute and hopeful and silly. "Outside he's small and gnarled and ugly but within? There's something useful."

Staring at him a long time, Emma reachs out and closes her hand over Scott's rather than around the jagged pieces of stone. "You've been drinking, haven't you?"

"Only a little,' he admitted, smile widening. "But I still think my analogy stands."

"I still think you would have done better hitting him with it."

Title: How Dates Go
Fandom: Astonishing X-Men
Characters: Emma Frost/Scott Summers
Prompt: 005. Outsides
Word Count: 497
Rating: PG
Summary: Often when things don't go as planned do they turn out for the best

It wasn't often that Emma and Scott had a date. Not a function where they were required to attend not as lovers and friends but as Headmaster and Mistress. Not a dinner party with her friends or a luncheon with some mutant group. Just Emma and Scott and their own agenda and their own plans. It wasn't often but it did happen; Emma insisted on it.

Tonight was such a night.

Not that she thought it was needed as Scott would have likely forgiven her if she'd shown up in a potato sack with her hair in a bun but Emma had spent four hours at the spa having her hair, nails and even her toes done before the big event. She's endured a full body salt scrub, a European facial and even a full waxing, right down to a Brazillian that involved a diamond shape most strategically placed. All in all, she was at her peak and she knew it.

Then there had been nearly as much time spent shopping, seeking the perfect ensemble for the night. A strapless sheath of white, a swirling dusting of beads tracing a path down one side and the other slit to her hip. The shoes were Manolo Blahniks and the bag beaded in the same swirling pattern. Everything had been matched perfectly, tried on and altered and, in the end, nothing looked off the rack but made especially for Emma's rather sultry, contructed form.

It wasn't that she through Scott cared because she knew that, in the end, it was what was inside that counted to him but this was what the world saw. The world, when they looked at Emma, saw a polished, sleek lady that reminded them of wild jungle cats and expensive cars. Scott may have loved her for what was inside but it was the outside shell that the world judged her on and she would let the world find nothing wrong with the lady on his arm.

Finally ready, she knocked on the door to the bedroom before slipping within. And found Scott laying naked on the bed, rose petals strewn beneath him and a bottle of champagne chilling in a silver stand beside him.

"I... I thought...' Stunned, unable to find words. She knew this was the right day. Not to mention the children and the way that the team had a rather unhealth, at least for them if they kept doing it, way of interupting their trysts when they attempted anything romantic and elaborate.

"This is our date,' he whispered, frowning at the trouble she'd gone through. "I arranged for Kitty and Hank to take the kids out but, well, since you went through all this trouble...' Already he was rising, preparing to dress and take her out as that outfit rightly deserved.

"Don't you dare move,' she growled, kicking off her heels and dropping the bag. "You're right where I want you."
