[Thanks to the efforts of the group that came to rescue him, Shinju now lies in the hospital, heavily bandaged. Opening his eyes, Shinju turned his head to face the vocaloid's direction as best he could. His voice came out scratchy and weak, but he would force it if he had to.

"I accept your apology."

After such a sincere admission from the vocaloid--the most sincere thing he'd ever heard from him--how could he not?

Shinju paused for a moment to collect his thoughts and his energy.

He couldn't hate Kaito anymore, not because of what had happened in the past. But that didn't mean he had to like him.

Already he was getting irritated again, the annoyance helped along by his injuries and recently accepting his Shadow.

Kaito didn't know how to take a comment like that. He'd never been told that just existing was enough to be annoying...

He was grateful for the change in subject. Even if it was one that made him twitch at the memory. "Y-yeah... Right through my middle."

Even if Shinju couldn't see it, Kaito tried to force a smile. "I was trying to fight and the blue thing threw me at that girl with pink hair who wouldn't let go of you."

"About what?" The vocaloid looked over Shinju. Why'd he look so annoyed? Was his personality really that bad? "I was just over her and then I got sliced in half... She didn't do anything, just looked up at me and these horns came out of her head."

It was starting to make sense now. Why Kaede called herself a monster, always referring to this "mutation" that made her a "freak". She must have horns... and some sort of power no one can see that came along with them.

But at Kaito's words, Shinju weakly clenched his fists, made even more difficult by the IV in one of them. He wouldn't tolerate anyone talking about Kaede in that way... not after the way she'd helped him.

"Do not. Say anything. About... her horns. Especially not... 'freaky'. Understand?"
