It's a Small World After All...

Omg. So weird. So yesterday my family went to to the Vatican museum, because it's open until 4:45 on saturdays instead of like 1:30, and needless to say, with my family, 1:30 was just not going to cut it (and we don't feel like paying the 12€ entrance fee multiple times). We had lunch in the cafetera, and I was munching on dessert, drinking a cappincino (the coffee here is so good!), and I happened to glance over my father's shoulder at some of the tables behind us. And who should I see sitting down, but Matt Cancian. I only sorta saw him, and was kinda like, holy shit, is that really him? And then I saw John sitting at the table, so I said aloud omg, that's Matt Cancian. Everyone was like, well aren't you going to go say hello? I was like, I don't actually know him at all, so no. My dad was like, well, I know Diane (Matt's mom, who worked on the craft show too), so I'm going to go say hi to her. So he went to say hello, and a little later, she came over so say hi, and then Matt came over too (I'm guessing he was told to by his brother and father) and just kinda stood behind her. The parents shatted briefly, and then they left again. Apparently they are here for 3 days, cause they like to go places for New Years, and I think they found a deal thingy, and basically scouting out what they want to see when they come back. It was just the strangest thing ever.

That reminds me: Happy New Years everyone! I hope you had more fun than I did (though granted, it would be really hard to not have). Around 11:45 my parents and I (jenn and Brandon were out doing their own thing, since it's their 3 year anniversary, and his flight out was early this morning. I'm not a 3rd wheel anymore, yay!!) walked over to St. Peter's square to see what was going on. It was raining, and kept lightening up and then pouring (it neared Beaumont rain a couple of times, which was quite impressive). There were lots of people there, and a Cardinal was giving a sermon thingy in the rain inside this fenced off area, and the people in their with him were all holding these candles with cups around them. I will never understand the random things Catholics do. Not that Itlaians make much sence either. They had fun with fire crackers the whole evening. Anyways, so there are two big clocks on St. Peter's, though they don't saw the same time. We were kinda expecting that the church bells would ring at midnight, but they didn't. The clocks both said midnight at one point, and everyone just seemed to decide well, that's close enough, it's midnight, yay! Because I was with my parents, who don't really pay attention to New Years, we hadn't gotten any champagne or anything. We stood around for a bit, and were kinda, well, is anything going to happen? After a while, it was kinda like, apparently not, so we left. I then read more of the book I had been reading before, and stayed up for a coupld hours, until the people partying/setting off lots of firecrackers had quieted down a bit. I missed the parties of the last two years so much. I also radomly thought of New years sophomore year, and the sushi. Ah, that was fun, even if it was highly demented. Or was that freshman year? I can't remember, do you Lisa? Next year I will be with friends on New Years.

Anyways, on to happy stuff. I finally remembered to bring in pictures cds, so here are some lovely pics of Italy.

The Coloseum (from inside)

The decorated family room of the apartment.

The view of St. Peter's from the room's window.

St. Peter's at night in all of it's glory.

Life sized nativity scene thingy in St. Peter's Square (which is actually an ellipse).

Inside St. Peter's.

I know the pictures are all kind of the same thing, But going through all of the pictures both my dad and I have taken, editing them down (sorry if the are still big, but their size is down to 33% of each sides dimesion if it makes you feel beter), uploading them, and them posting them, takes a while, and the family is getting pissed.

Well, today is my last day in Rome. Tomorrow we take the train to Florence, where we have another apartment. I don't know if I will be able to post form there.
