He shifted the bundle of clothes in his hands to his left arm in order to free his right. His fingers lifted to run gently down the side of her face, then along her jaw. The gender of each of them did not concern him; they were still their true selves in a way. Phonos slid his hand from her face along her neck and down to her flat chest, allowing his fingers to rest there as he pushed up and into Melinoe to kiss her again. He was trying to understand.
As it was, he knew he enjoyed this, and that had to be something. There was pleasure in this. After a beat, he broke the kiss suddenly. His left hand dropped the clothes in order to drag one of her hands to his chest, where his heart was beating. The pace was accelerated from what it should be; while it could have been the alcohol, it was unlikely the sole factor. "I know my body reacts to you."

"Ah," was her soft reply once he'd said how he reacted to her, laced with a smile of something between relief and patience. Feeling his heart beat much like her own, and the fact that he did recognize a physical reaction in relation to her made her relax somewhat. "That's very good." While the reaction was mostly merely hormonal, as these things with humans so often were, hormones sometimes fueled those emotions. It was a small step, but it was a step, nevertheless.
Did her body react to his? It did, indeed and on all sorts of levels, but as a male, it was in a very different way than she was used to and it rather terrified her. The very masculine part of her wanted to throw Phonos down on the bed and do things that she had never, ever done before and suspected he hadn't either. The primal instinct in humans could be very overwhelming. Meli's nose nuzzled against Phonos's cheek for a brief moment before she leaned in and kissed him with more of a want and need than she had previously; she dared brush her tongue gently against his while the hand not resting on his chest found itself with fingers tangling in his lovely hair as though it had a right.

Phonos, in compliment to the masculinity overcoming her, was taken with very female needs. That desire to see aggression from her and to make their bodies intertwined. He, of course, resisted those urges except in what was already unfolding, allowing her to lead whatever this was. The alcohol still clouded his mind and reciprocation accompanied by pleasure seemed so much easier and better than determining what was logical.
His hands dropped both from her chest and from her hand on his own chest to move to her shoulders instead, fingers wrapping around to the back, curving along the muscles there. Phonos let out a small moan at the feeling of her tongue with his, parting his lips farther to allow her better access. At this point, he was primarily a response to her actions-- and enjoying every moment of it.

The majority of the previous night flooded back in large pieces, some of the smaller details a little hazy, but still intact. She knew that the night had consisted of a lot of kissing and some exploring, but nothing in their current state lead her to believe anything beyond just that had transpired.
What puzzled her is how comfortable he seemed. Then again, alcohol sleep could make anyone look comfortable. And he'd had far less than she did. Meli started feeling guilty, feeling as though she'd taken advantage of him somehow, trying to make him see what he had no desire to within himself. She had worried so much for his own happiness and fought with him over whether or not he deserved to have such a thing. She felt that he did. Murder himself, of course, did not.
Melinoe was trying to understand him in such a way that she could figure out how to make him understand her. Had the previous night been a step in the right direction? She was not sure, despite the fact that she had been so confident then.

He slid back away from her, not urgently, but as if it was the appropriate thing to do; because it was logical. His mind took longer to catch up, despite less alcohol. There was a vague dizziness to this thoughts and a light headache sat at the height of his neck in the back, radiating around. His stomach was, surprisingly, at ease. Still, he felt groggy as he finally slid to sit up, wearing the panties Makaria had loaned him and the over-sized t-shirt he thought Melinoe had been wearing the night before.
His expression contorted to one of confusion as he tried to recall the events of the night before, saying nothing to the other person in his bed quite yet.

The night before had been a blur of general annoyance, drinking, dealing with hormones she had no business even trying to understand in herself and allowing for the both of them to come together in a mesh of hands, lips and beating hearts. If it were only for that night, then it was what it was. If he wanted her gone, she would go. Meli grew tired of their arguing, her being consistent in confusing and angering him. Frustrating him. What she had taken as mutual attraction for whatever reasons were very likely only physical.
Meli sat up slowly, wincing at the bite of pain in her forehead that hadn't been there when she first awoke and a sharp intake of breath was the only sound in the room at that moment. As it subsided to a low roar, she pinched the bridge of her nose before looking over to her current bedmate. "Are you all right?"

His voice intentionally lacked any level of excitement or reassurance. He was not entirely certain how well he felt about the events that had occurred, as his own memories came back to him more naturally than the rush her own encountered. As the flashes of specific instances from the prior night came before him and then sank into his memory again, he was silent. Finally, he shifted his attention to the window to see if he could garner some estimation of time.
When that failed, he looked to Melinoe again and discomfort was clearly painted on his features. "I am.. not certain if I should be apologizing."

"Please don't apologize for anything," she replied with a dry voice. She would need to seek out water soon. "Whether it's what happened or how you may or may not feel or you not understanding any of it... I should be the one apologizing to you." Her too-large hands fell into her lap and she sighed, looking Phonos over and playing the previous evening's events in her head. It was an incredible experience on a variety of levels, even though sex had been left out of the equation--it would have been like trying to divide by zero. At least in the state their relationship stood. "I made you have to try and come to terms with something you were never meant to understand, and I was selfish to do so. You would have had to deal with very human, very mortal emotions eventually... but you would have had time at your own pace. Not me trying to beat it into your head because of my desire of you.
"And if it matters," Meli pulled her knees up to rest her arms on as she watched Phonos, wondering and waiting. "Despite the alcohol, I really enjoyed our night together. I enjoy my time with you, regardless."
