Horror of horrors: the coffee had ran out. A completely unacceptable situation if you asked Styx. She wasn't in the mood to leave the apartment (and Pallas, whom she'd just gotten back) but without coffee there was no way she could function like a normal human being. And since Pallas was fast asleep, he wouldn't notice if she slipped out for just a moment.

So here she was, in the hallway, waiting for the elevator to arrive and hoping she wouldn't have to run into anyone. Even on her best days she was antisocial and now - considering the recent events - she was even more so. Running into someone, anyone, would be highly unpleasant, especially if it was one of the Muses.

When the elevator arrived and the doors opened she found herself staring at the one person she most certainly didn't need to see: Melpomene. Cursing softly in her mind she stared at the redhead, not really sure what to say.

"Oh fuck you, Khaos." Was what she said when the doors slid open on Styx. Because it could only be Khaos would put one of the two last people she really wanted to see right in her path. She could have gone the rest of eternity without seeing Styx (or Pallas for that matter) and been perfectly content with it.

She didn't invite the woman on, or offer any sort of soothing social interaction to make the awkward situation remotely bearable. What she did do was give the control panel of the elevator a mighty kick.

"I hate to say it, but I have to agree." Styx paused to glare at the Muse one more time before entering the elevator. Turning around to head for the staircase would have been a sign of weakness and she most certainly wouldn't give Melpomene that pleasure.

Standing as far away from the other woman as possible she turned to look at her again. "I highly doubt violence will make it work any better," was all she said, the tone of her voice as icy as possible.

"I'm not looking to fucking fix it." She gave Styx a scathing look, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall, as far away from the other woman as possible.

The elevator doors slid shut and began to move down. Mel kept her gaze firmly away from Styx and fixed on the lighted counter that told them what floor they were passing. 10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 6.

What?

The elevator lights flickered and there was a metallic grinding noise before it just stopped. The doors didn't slide open. They were stuck.

"Fanfuckingtastic!"

The distance between them suited her fine. Honestly, she'd rather pretend the other woman didn't even exist... and then the elevator ground to a halt. Styx shot an accusing look at the Muse. "Were you looking to break it, then? It looks like you might have succeeded."

Brilliant. This was just what she needed. What they both needed - to be stuck in a small, confined space with each other. Styx crossed her arms as well, her eyes darting between Mel and the elevator doors. Fanfuckingtastic indeed.

"Yeah, breaking it and getting stuck in here with you was so my goal." She dripped sarcasm and not a little bit of venom. She was in the worst mood of her life since she'd found out her fling with Achelous had resulted in pregnancy. And now she was stuck in close proximity with one of the reasons she was in that fowl mood. She felt the urge to kick the console again, but didn't. If the stupid machine just needed to restart or whatever, she didn't want to set it back.

Styx scoffed at Melpomene, not really sure if she wanted to sink to her level. So she just glared at the redhead and slid down the wall until she was sitting on the floor, keeping her eyes on the other woman and cursing softly under her breath. How long could this take anyway? Surely someone would notice them if...

"Ring the alarm, Muse. Then someone will come. Someone has to." Brushing her hair off her face she squinted at Mel. "And if nothing else, Pallas will soon realize I am missing. He will find me. He always does," there was an edge to her voice that surely couldn't be missed.

She fully believed the River had said his name just to nettle her. It worked too. Well, seeing as she was all ready very very nettled as it was.

She stayed standing and placed her hands on her hips, taking advantage of the other woman having sat down and thus giving her the height advantage. She stared at Styx; unblinking, for a long moment, before finally speaking. "You need saved so bad, Rapunzel, you ring the alarm."

The small change in Mel's demeanor didn't go unnoticed by Styx and she was pleased to see her words had stung, just as she'd meant them to. If they'd been anywhere else there would have been a small satisfied smile on her lips.

She wasn't intimidated by Mel's stance but merely stared back, frowning as the Muse spoke. "Rapunzel?" Shaking her head she continued. "You are closer. Press the button."

"Princess in the tower. You know the one who needs someone to tell her she needs saving."

She folded her arms and leaned against the wall. She wanted out of this elevator and away from Styx. But she be damned if she did anything the other woman asked. Besides it was highly annoying that the other woman had sat down then demanded something be done. Mel was no one's servant."

"I'm sorry did your arms and legs suddenly all stop working? Shame."
