It was a theory she could officially support as true now. Echo had come to the conclusion that even with all the bad stuff that came with it modern life was pretty amazing. With so many interesting people, all the wonderful things to do, and places so great to be that even the cities themselves had to be personified as staying up and watching it- life almost couldn’t help it. She’d gotten into college and now she got to celebrate with her best friend in the whole world. Life was good.

She’d maybe spent more time preparing than she should have but living with Narcissus had taught her to try and look her best for any occasion. Sparkles and necklaces and adult high heeled shoes. When she glanced at the clock and it already said seven, latelatelatelate, Echo grabbed her notepad and rushed down the stairs at high speed to head to their meeting spot. It made her whole face bright red and her waving all the more frantic when she spotted him, but her smile was as wide as always.

Hi, she tried to say with her waving. Hi, Morpheus, Hi!

Once Morpheus noticed the motion and Echo, it was an understatement to say that he was caught off guard by her appearance. It wasn't as if he had never seen her before, but not looking like that (in a situation that seemed very similar to a date, too). Once that wore off in an amount of time that he forced to be short, his lips curved into a smile as she neared, a little worried that she would go toppling down onto the floor with her choice in shoes.

"Echo," Morpheus said, able to talk even if the other couldn't. His voice was quiet as always, a little soft, but still direct and audible without being too loud. He couldn't help but absently note that the flush on her usually pale cheeks looked especially nice, and that showed from how his gaze softened just a touch - a stark contrast to how he usually looked at most others with indifference ( ... )

The main problem was that Echo hadn’t actually noticed it was a date. She was honestly too excited; otherwise she would have done what she almost always did and over analyzed it to death until she worked herself into a panic. There would have been blank staring and other forms of strangeness. This was much better. Morpheus looked so nice, she really needed to make him more scarves, and they would have a lovely time. She was sure of that much.

Echo nodded to him easily, shall was such a nice word to start a night off with, fingers easily reaching out to clutch his arm and to begin lightly pull him towards the restaurant she had wanted to try.

With her other hand she slipped him the note from her pocket she’d prepared earlier. I made the reservation. You don’t have to, um, worry or anything.

Morpheus was glad that things were going smoothly so far, especially happy about the light pressure on his arm that led him to wherever they were going. Catching the motion, he read the note quietly, expression unreadable. At least until he gave her a small smile, reassurance that he wasn't worrying at all.

"Thank you," Morpheus said in addition, his other hand slipping out of his coat pocket to hold the door open for her. He head learned how to be a gentleman (somewhat) from the best, after all.
