THE ESCAPE ROUTE oheyzeus January 27 2011, 21:34:16 UTC
Lead by Apollo and Artemis, this group guarded the fire exit. Cerberus, ever the guard dog, was to use his keen scent to remain alert for any alternate routes Cronus might take. The mortal warriors - Achilles, Patroclus, Jason, Neoptolemus, Helenus and Telemachus now had the chance to prove their worth. They were joined (again, at a safe distance) by Makaria and Phonos who were to be ready to mop up any casualties (who deserved safe passage to the Hereafter).

[ooc: use this thread to get your warrior orgy on, my dears]

Cerberus settled himself down at the foot of the fire escape. He was comfortable and warm in his jacket and he could smell so many delicious things. The issue now was just to discern Cronus's smell from everything else.

Maybe he could chew on Cronus a bit once master was done.

Achilles was ready to KICK SOME ASS. No, really, the warrior was quite ready to reclaim some of his former glory, especially after the indignity of tolerating so many insults over the computer. It was appalling. "God-like" Achilles had been too merciful towards these unfortunates; now, at least, he could channel his rage into fulfilling the will of Zeus. He was refusing to make himself either a leader or follower; he would fight as he saw fit. As they waited, he stood protectively near Patroclus, and once in a while glowered in annoyance and disgust at Helenus. He had an oath to destroy that man, but that could wait until later. For now, they were allies in this strange war against the Father of the king of all gods.

Jason was, admittedly, a bit late. He had meant to be on time, but work had distracted him (for once) and now he had to walk up behind the other men and make sure to place himself between Helenus and Achilles so that they didn't get distracted by fighting each other. This ended up giving him the advantage of being able to goose Patroclus as he walked over. One must always take the chance to grope when it was presented.

Helenus wasn't exactly thrilled to be there but he would give his all. At the very least he could do what he could to help Neoptolemus. He stayed closer him as they waited. Thankfully Achilles being there was a good excuse if anyone asked why he looked annoyed and direct some return glares at.

He had never had much to do with Jason before but made a mental note to thank him later (if Cronus didn't kill them all here or they got sent home). For now he caught his eye and gave a slight thankful nod. Helenus accepted he and Achilles would be allies here but he still had no care to be close to the man.

Telemachus was serene. Calm even.

This was necessary to ensure a better quality of life for the people here. To possibly find a way back home.

He stood by the warriors, men who knew of battles, and tried to look like he belonged.

He hasn't been in a battle for so many years.

The instincts are still there, of course, but the feeling is far less glorious. A sickly thud at the bottom of his belly, a twitch in the back of his head - one that risks memories of the last time. The blood, the death, the ones who fell screaming under his bloodied hands...

He draws in a breath to distract himself, glances at Helenus, "are you alright?"

No? But there was no way he was going to admit that in front of these men. He wasn't the warrior of his brothers. Hadn't even been a proper battle since Menelaus had wounded him.

"I will be," he answered quietly, glancing back and shifting a little closer. "When this is done. You?"

He was a warrior; he remembers being a warrior, standing on the field of battle next to Agamemnon and feeling so very proud... But it's different now, he's older now. He knows the reality of war: the screams, the flames, the look of dead people. He knows that war is not a glorious business these days.

...But he knows, perhaps, that this is a necessary battle.

"Maybe," and so he answers, with a faint smile, "I can cope, I think."

Quickly, almost as if scared to be seen touching Neoptolemus in public, he gives the man's shoulder a quick squeeze. It was weird, to be preparing for this beside Neoptolemus instead of fearing his entrance. But he quickly pushed those thoughts away, this wasn't the time to be thinking of Troy or her defeat.

"It'll be ok," he murmurs, barely loud enough to be heard. His sight might not be what it was, but there's something, barely more then a glimpse. This had to work.
