Wow, I haven't posted in a long time. First there was exams and finals-term crazy; and then the longer I go before actually sitting down and writing the stuff in my head, the more there is that I totally need to tell and the more News I find it my duty to impart. So, nothing gets written because there is too much to write. But I am going to try and ( Read more... )

*hugs* It sounds like a lot's been going on - I'm sorry the achalasia's giving you a rough time. Huge well done for finishing finals, though! That is awesome! :D

p.s. I am all ears any time you fancy posting about the delightful Renée Vivien, though I appreciate it's poss still too close to work-time for you to want to.

I am sure that, now I have the lesiure to think about non-exam-related intellectual things I will be back on lovely Renée soon! I am currently coveting the frustratingly hard to aquire book of her letters to her long-distance lover, Kerimé Turkhan Pacha, a French-educatated ambassador's wife of Constantinople, with whom she had a passionate, but in some ways very unreal, correspondance over several years.

Thanks for the wellwishes - the achalasia as a physical problem is inconvenient but liveable, only, as you might imagine, several years of always being deeply aware of everything I eat and drink does rather lead to a parcel of Anxieties on that score!

I've been following your posts with interest, although I'm afraid I'm bad at commenting on people - but I would very much like to come to know you better. :)

Even a couple of years of that awareness (deriving from a risk of anaphylaxis) has inflamed all my existing issues on that score to a ghastly height, so I have at least some idea, though I imagine many years of it must have been a great deal worse. *hugs*

That's so nice of you - probably my number one lj-related anxiety is that I'm actually just alienating and/or terrifying and/or disgusting people, so the fact that you found my posts interesting really means a lot to me. Feel free to jump in if you want to, but equally don't ever feel any pressure to if you're in a shy phase!

YAY RENEE. I just lost my Amazon.fr virginity acquiring books, so I know the genre of temptation of which you speak... :D

Eep, allergies and risks of anaphylaxis sounds a great deal more ghastly to me! At least if I eat food that disagrees with me it does so relatively politely, without raising its voice, as it were. Massive respect for you maintaining a vegan diet with those additional constraints!

And I know what you mean about Amazon.fr and gleefully acquiring books... why is it that spending money on wonderful things is such a bad ideas?

I think the reason why the achalasia sounds worse to me (I'm not 'arguing' in the sense of trying to reach some definitive answer; worse is pretty subjective!) is because with allergies for the most part total avoidance means no symptoms, and for the most part - crosses fingers - I manage that quite well. Whereas you still have to deal with it regardless of what you do, which is tough luck. *HUGS*

Yeah, not trying to say that anything is Definitively Worse - but tough luck is about right. *HUGS*

If it helps in any way, your anxieties are definitely not noticeable. That said, I might just be dense. *hugs*

No, not being dense - I don't mean so much visibly manifested Anxieties so much as internal thinking processes and constant thinking/overthinking about food. Though part of that is just Massive Foodyness, as my most current 'Must cook all the things!' kick corroborates. :P

Being a massive foodie must make it tricky - I'm sorry it's so shit. I hope things do get better, and modern medicine is able to help more!

(I want to cook All The Things as well. I have been happily planning what to make for our Shakespeare picnic. Oh, food, why are you so great?)
