So, here is what I did for my summer class that ended in June... I should have posted these sooner. XD
The first project! For this project we had to draw an editorial drawing for one of the three articles we were given. I chose the article about flooding in the USA and how flood water is being purposely diverted away from larger cities to more rural/farm areas. So, I chose to represent that as the government crocheting the water away from a city to a farm. I think this was my best piece from the class. ^_^
These 3 paintings were illustrations based on
a magazine article. The article that I chose from the ones that were given was about invasive species (garlic mustard, asian carp, and the black tailed iguana). I wanted to represent these invasive species as vikings over taking a park, rivers, and a restaurant. I'm not too happy with the restaurant painting because it's too small to work details into. I had to restart it once already and due to time restraints I didn't have time to go back to it.
I love this poster. <3 However, the words "Climate Change" are a little hard to see (they are written in the top part of the wing) and the slug needs some more work. The project was to create a poster about climate change, and you can interrupter those words however you wanted. Some people focused on the climate, others on political change, etc. My idea was related to pollution. :p I might end up going back to this one later and working on some of the details.
This assignment was to create a two page comic. I decided to make my comic pages based on a scene from the book "Moloka'i" because all of my original ideas sucked for a two page comic. :p This could use a lot more work but it was one of the last projects we had and because this is a summer class, things moved fast. So, I'm not too happy with this but it was fun.
The last assignment was to design a book cover for one of the 3 book choices given to us. I chose "Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets" because I like and can remember what happened in Harry Potter more than "Lord of the Flies" and I didn't even read the third book. :p Anyway, this was another acrylic painting and it could use some more work too. He needs more color in his face. XD I was working on both this one and the comic pages at the same time, and pulled some all-nighters so I'm not too happy with this either. *shrugs* However, after working in acrylics for this and two other projects, I feel a little more confident with acrylics now. :D I've been practicing them since the class ended too.
On a side note, I just found out about
naarmamo and I am so doing this. :D
