okay now i know i am going to piss some people of but i don't give a rats ass if i do
i have noticed that many people post other's people work (art of any kind) on their live journal, my space, and etc. and claim them to be their own work. let me just tell you this, knock it the fuck off! this also goes for people that use other people's images (for example photos) and put them together and post it like mad all over the damn place. its nice if you are trying to prove a positive point and the images help you but it still does not make it right. how would you feel if you took a awesome pic and then before you know it people have copied it and used it to express their opinion that might not even be something you believe in. its wrong and its called stealing and if you are going to use someone else's work you need to ask permission especially if its on the web and thousands of people are going to be looking at it. you might think its too much to do and fuck it who cares? well the artist does, who put time and energy and in some cases their own money into their work. they give a shit on how their work is being used and have every right to sue your ass if they do not like they way you presented THEIR work. so get either get permission or be fucking creative and do your own fucking art (which you should have done in the first place).
this does not apply to recreations, for example if you drew minnie in a thong and claimed it as your own is fine as long as you do not say you invented minnie herself and not get any outside inspiration or say this is how disney intended for her to be drawn. that might not make much sense but thats the simplest way i can put it without getting too technical. icons too are fine sometimes if you do not fuck with the image itself and misinterpret the artist.
