I seem top recall that the typical selection of birthday cards used to be a picture of a cake or somesuch on the front and "Wishing you a Happy Birthday!" on the inside. Now the vast majority of them are incredibly sappy, incredibly dumb, caked with glitter, or a horrifying permutation of some and in one case all of the above.
