we are so transparent...
so my mom's redoing our kitchen and my bro and i's bathroom, because well, they really really need redoing.
but you see, my mom has no sense of what colour is, so she recruited me to help her. all day was spent in home depot and central builders looking at counter tops and floor samples... and i think we finally found a floor we like, now for the freakin counter top. and then maybe a wall paint sinse our light beige/with sponging technique wont match anymore...
why do we sometimes define happiness as a good looking kitchen? or a to-die-for gardening set?
that's what i was thinking about last night, after i kept telling my mom what did or didnt go as far as this shade with that one.
sure, when i get my own place one day, it'll probably be pretty radical, but should i worry about it that much? should anyone worry about it that much? sometimes clashing patterns is okay. but thats not what home decor magazine tells us. same goes for church, some people find it highly offensive that yes, im a christian, but i smoke cigars every once in a while, i swear sometimes, and 'oh my word' i make penis jokes pretty much 50% of the time, AND go to those dreadful punk shows. as a christian im called to love everyone, not to shove the bible down the throats of people who dont believe (in the same thing), or look down on those who do, that may seem to be a little "risky" when it comes to christianity. i also think it goes the same for everything these days, in work, in life, love and candy choices... everyone's made of porcelain and pretty paint to me. fuggin fake i say!
if you wanna be real with people, dont show them the warm terracotta red with black accents in your sitting room or the white/seafoam green walls with the mesquite dark wood flooring in your den. shit! lift up that antique white duvet bed cover and show them your hot green and pink sheets with the classic red plaid pillows dangit! thats where i wanna be.
