Watching Angel's little boy walking around like a lost caveman put a jig in my step. He was the key to getting Angel to fall. It's always easy to get what you want from parents. Just twist the knife in the right way and they will do your biding without even a blink ( Read more... )

"So many questions from such a young man."

I wasn't going to give him any more details. Hell, I wasn't given many myself. It was the operation of the Senior Partners after all. When they said it was a final battle i didn't ask questions. After all the Earth is still turning. We still get to watch the nightly battles of the Slayers alive. Although they are pretty boring. Grab a bunch of little girls, give them super powers and you'd think they would win everytime. Not so. They didn't have the training nor the experience generally to hit demons that have walked this Earth for centuries.

Plus there were a lot of blondes in the mix.

Any of the ones that had some merit could be taken out though non demon means.

"Seen Faith? Oh yeah, you haven't heard."

Moving into the building that housed my office I nodded at the guard so he'd let Junior enter when he got there.

Someday soon I figure he'll have a little office of his own.

Just have to get him ready. He's done the hate thing before. Let's see how long it takes to have it back in force.

As I passed my desk I hit the on button for the TV, moving quickly to the wet bar. Martini time.

"Want a drink?"

What a big surprise. She gets all quiet and then we enter a building where a guard who would have lasted about five seconds if I wanted him to, was waiting.

And now, as we entered her office and she turned on the television, I knew that she was totally playing with me.

I didn't like how I was letting Quartoth Connor take over for Connor Reilly, but when ou were being messed with mentally, you couldn't help but get a little angry.

Even if part of you wanted to laugh at her lame efforts to get under your skin.

"I don't drink, so no, no drink for me. And what is this about Faith, now? What happened to Faith?"

"Pity. Sometimes this place really needs a shot to deal with."

I downed the first of what I knew would be many drinks for the night. Not like this reality would allow for me to get smashed enough to forget it. Hell isn't like that.

"Little Faith didn't make it to the big battle. Poor thing was in the line of fire of a drunk."

I watched his face to see what would appear. From prior knowledge I knew he was into older women. Was she enough older to even register?

The screen started playing a fight scene of some of the current slayers.

"So what did you want to see first?"
