Here I was, alone, demons around me in a place that looked a lot like Los Angeles, only always dark and dilapidated, and I knew what my place was and what this place was

I was starting to get really, really, really annoyed. I mean the Senior Partners see fit to squish me like a bug in their offices and then send me to this hellhole. Which apparently was hell.
I sighed and started to walk down the street. My heels were clicking loud enough to draw any creep from his alleyway. Which, in this version of Wolfram and Hart's hell was a lot. I heard someone practically running at full speed behind me and I turned quickly.
"Lindsey?" I asked as he ran up to me. "Lindsey! What the hell are you doing here?" I asked grinning as I ran over and wrapped my arms around him. I gave him a big hug.
So this is what we get for not being Wolfram and Hart's bitch anymore. "Welcome to Hell." I said, smiling.
It was good to see her again, at least the selfish part of me thought so, but it was also sad that she had died, though I did wonder how and it built my anger up.
I had to tell her what I already knew, but I had to know something else first.
"Baby, DID ANGEL set you up too, like he did me? DID HE HAVE YOU KILLED LIKE HE DID ME?"
I was so irritated that I could barely see straight, or hear all of the noises around us.
What I could doto ease some of my anger about Lorne killing me at Angel's behest and about Lilah's discouraging news, was to take comfort in her arms.
I hugged her closely, thinking that just before two minutes ago, that I would never see her again.
I wanted to kiss her, but I pulled away, because I had to know the answers. I had to know what had happened to her.
I looked back at him and smiled up at him. Just to let him know I was okay now and that the bastards who were also known as the Senior Partners didn't get to me that bad.
"No, Angel didn't set me up. I think our dear dear friends known as the Senior Partners did. Any way you look at it .. remember how Wolfram and Hart collapsed? Well, babe, guess who was stuck in the hallway as it did." I said, with a small shrug.
"Apparently, I'm still on their shit list." I said with a sigh. "Are you okay?"
I was still ticked off and that wasn't going away anytime soon but I still had the ability for shrewd thought and in this situation, it was definitely called for.
"I don't know if you can call a building falling down on you the work of the senior partners, Eve, but even if they are ticked off at you, there is somebody else that they like evn less right now...."
She looked at me. "Me, of course."
Her gaze was intent.
"But, Eve, that isn't the best part. We died an went to Wolfram and Hart Hell, so if you think that life ended for us, and our enemy list shrunk, then think again.."
I paused just to put light on the subject. "I ran into Lilah. Let's just say that I was welcome back to Wolfram and Hart, at the bottom of the food chain. Now what do you think that means?"
That seemed like the obvious interpretation of events, and Eve knew that I knew all of that as well abou the contracts.
"If he's on Earth, then what purpose do we serve here? Yeah, we're dead and this of course, is where we would go, but if he's not here, then what do we do?
That led me to another question, as I settld down, realizing that there was no point in being angered over what the senior partners now had on us here, wherever here truly was.
"Even if Angel can be coerced to the dark side, and is here, and can't kill us again, what would be our objective for him here? What damage can he do in hell? Wolfram and Hart wanted him for the apocalypse on Earth, maybe to send it, the Earth, into a formof hell, but also still with living beings, but what is the agenda for him here?"
I hadn't puzzled any of that out yet and it was now bothering me. It was clear, that we might very well have to go back to Lilah.
I frowned and glanced around the dingy hallway/apartment that were way too familiar to the two of us. Why were we here? I knew the whole contract beyond death scheme, yada yada .. but if Angel wasn't here .. I shuddered.
Glancing back at Lindsey, I let out a sigh. "Baby, you realize that if Angel isn't here .. then our purpose down here is apparently to be their bitches. For eternity. And that's putting it nicely. We all know what the Senior Partners are capable of and if they have to vent their anger on us .. well it's going to be a long ever."
"We have to find someone with answers. Even if it means showing our faces where we're least wanted. Lindsey .. we're in the belly of the beast so to say and apparently, we have to go crawling back to them to figure out what the hell they want from us."
Oh this was going to be painful. I could feel it already.
Asmuch as I hated to believe it, to think it, I knew that she was right, and it wouldn't be the first time that my mercy had been placed at th senior partners' feet.
I had deceived Holland with those children. I had left town after getting my evil hand. I had deceived them again with the tatts and they had sent me to Pleasantville.
They were willing to work wwith me. They saw something in me, my dark side, my ruthless side, but that was on Earth when there were forces of good and I was below them, more devoid of ethics.
What was I here in this hell?
I couldn't have been much of a force here. And, on top of that, I had Eve to fend for now.
"I suppoe that we find Lilah, find ou what's going on, and I mean REALLLY going on, and then, even though we might be under he constant eye of the Partners, we an decide where to go from there."
"Wow there cowboy. We're getting ahead of ourselves here. What happens when the Partners slam the door in our faces and tell us to get the hell out of here?"
Like they were really going to tell us ANYTHING when we ahem betrayed them.
"But let's go find Lilah. She could be a start, even if she happens to be the ice queen." I said, with a forced smile. While I never had met her, I'd heard stories.
And well, they weren't very good either. I could tell this was going to be a very very long eternity.
