The Ghost of Christmas Presents

So.

I hate snow. The white plague spilling evil across the land. I have also decided that I hate christmas too. Not all of it. Just the gift exchanging traditions. There is nothing I want that I wouldn't prefer to buy myself. I want to pick my own clothes and I have everything I need and most of what I want. Everything else is too expensive to ask for. It would be nice if Christmas was a time where we could all just go out and buy what we want and congragulate eachother on our respective purchases. Wouldn't that be so much more economical? Sure, it cuts out the re-afirmation of relationships and familial status like the exchanging of gifts between lords and vassals, the showing of affection and consideration of others, but what does Christmas mean anyway.

Anyway.

I am still very pleased about my grades, particularly since it means that my final essay for American lit crit and theory was actually good, possibly even great.

However, I really need to be brushing up on my basic math skills for the GREs which I need to take rather shortly. I think that it will be best to get that over with since otherwise it will serve as a block to my application processes. I hate applications. It was bad for undergrad, it will undoubtedly be worse for graduate school.

christmas, academia - good bad and ugly
