oooh, a new computer

New computer delivered and installed yesterday. My first desktop. An excellent deal, and the chap who delivered it set it all up for me, even found my IP address which I had forgotten, installed all the software, tested the printer, checked that my DVDs would work and even talked me through where everything plugs in. Hurrah for such excellent service (it was cheap too). I think they're a start-up - at least, I've only ever spoken to and met one person, and I'm not really sure how many colleagues he has (if any!).

Otherwise, I have just been working mostly. In the pleasantly largely empty college library over the last few weeks. I went to my parents' for Christmas on Christmas Eve, ostensibly for 9 days (staying for New Year to see all my neices and nephews, especially those who were about to move to Kenya). In fact - predictably - after 4 I was in dreadful library withdrawal misery ( I am quite embarrassed admitting this. Especially as the same thing happened last year too . . .) so I came back on the 28th and stayed here till New Year's Day, when I went back to see the children (mmm, train journeys when hung over = not much fun).
College between Christmas and New Year was great; just a few of us rattling around the library, mostly going out for coffee and chatting.

Term starts in about 10 days before which I'm planning to hand in several chunks of work to my long-lost supervisor. Then a few days devoted to teaching preparation. And Sanskrit, haven't done any Sanskrit since term ended so will have to revise a bit I think. And then another term which promises to be as hectic as the last one.

Meanwhile, very, very tentative development on a possibly romantic front. I don't think anything will come of this - I think we're likely to remain (closer) friends - but I am enjoying this phase of discernment.

Goodness that was all dull. Hope you're all having a more eventful time.
