was at sushi tei having dinner last fri where i ordered hiroshima oysters and rice which came cooked in a bamboo steamer.
i seldom take oysters so i was albeit curious how they would taste like. the food came. i lifted up the cover. there was this strong fishy smell but it was not too bad.
as i chomped down my food, my mind drifted back to history lessons where we were told the americans dropped atomic bombs on the jap cities of hiroshima and nagasaki in an effort to stop WWII.
we all know the horrifying aftermath of nuclear explosions. the surroundings will be contaminated. the radiation is dangerous and persists for a long period of time.
i think little was mentioned how the japs living in those cities suffered but i am guessing there were birth defects in their children.
so it makes me wonder whether the uranium from the bomb has been broken down through half life decay (i have forgotten what i have learnt in physics) or some part of it are still present in hiroshima and in the oysters which i have downed.. =P
food for thought
