June 7, Rubicon Trail
Yay. Calawee Cove to Vikingsholm. This is the real beginning of the hiking season. I start it with this one, the most scenic part of Lake Tahoe. I stop a bit short of Vikingsholm so this is about 8 miles round trip. Eleven of us this time, which is nice. The last couple of years I brought in an invading army, and the trail was crowded with other hikers as well. This time we almost had the trail to ourselves, until we hiked out and met a lot of oncoming traffic. After lunch I conked out on the beach, almost 2 hours. I guess I needed the nap. It is a 90 minute drive from Reno. I think I can remember that.
