July 27, Emigrant Lake
This is a pretty good description of the Emigrant Lake hike. I had the same impression last year. Someone goofed on the mileage marker at the turnoff to Kirkwood. It's only about a mile to Emigrant Lake from that point. It's three miles back to the trailhead from that point, but it is only two miles back to Caples Lake because the trail follows the shoreline of Caples for about a mile. I hope to get some pictures eventually. I'm still experimenting with the camera and I don't always get the film loaded quite right. A great hike for the eleven of us. Three of us braved the water. Yes, Emigrant is a very cold lake. Deep tissue cooling very quickly!
