Jamison Lake remains my favorite hike. Nine of us did this one, at least by the time the ninth person caught up with us, just as we got past Grass Lake. I don't cut off to Wades Lake anymore as that adds too much to the hike and this time I didn't even go to Rock Lake. My understanding is that the dramatic decrease in water level last year was because water was pumped out of it in the great war against the Pike. Rock Lake is really ugly without its full level of water so no point being disappointed after the great stop at Jamison Lake. We had six swimmers this time. Well, it was a hot day, even up there. We hit that water fast. And the traditional ice cream stop at the Graeagle Fros-tee. That's a play on words. A reference to golf. It's about the only sense of humor displayed there. It's great to stop for ice cream but it has such a sour attitude toward customers. There are more schoolmarmish signs pasted around that place: Don't touch the windows, don't play with the blinds, don't use the hose, go somewhere else if you're looking for fast food. I think they've even locked up the restroom. Employees use it but not customers.
