So, my “adventures in having too many people in a relationship” are going pretty well. We’re discussing making things a bit more formal. Or at least figuring out better living situations.
Pictures of hair will come when I can either steal someone’s camera or find the other battery for mine.
I’m behind in my gardening plans due to having my weekends way too busy for that sort of thing. I’ve got to find some balance here. I wish garden centres were open late. If I can get things in some dirt in the next week or so, I will be good to go.
Books!:
I have no idea where I was when I last posted about my reading, but here you go:
Buddy Bolden is a mysterious figure. Long considered to be one of the founders of Jazz music in New Orleans, his actual life is shrouded in mystery. One of the only known facts is that sometime around the age of 31, he went mad and was locked up in an institution for the rest of his life.
Michael Ondaatje’s
Coming Though Slaughter is a fictionalised account of the last few years before Bolden went mad in a poetic style that resembles the ecclectic improvisational music style Bolden is remembered for. The story is told through the points of view of Bolden himself as well as his friends and lovers and enemies.
Pretty crappy writing (my review), but there you go.
Started two books:
People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. Bought on a whim. Especially interesting to me what with the illuminated manuscripts and old book conservation and all.
Ana Historic by Daphne Marlatt because Stephanie told me to.
