I am about to look up where one can buy the CBC documentary on Omar Khadr which airs tomorrow. This is because I KNOW some of our instructors will watch it and then either tape it and play it in class (illegally) or ask us when we can get it for the library and then I will be asked to look it up.
Or not, if there's an easy way to get it, I won't be asked.
But I'm looking it up anyway.
For those of you who don't know, Omar Khadr was the 15 year old kid, a Canadian citizen, who was found cowering in a bunker in Afghanistan after a grenade was thrown at invading forces. He was then tortured and held without trial until later this year. He's now 22. Omar insists he was tortured and the evidence against him was made up. Several courts have insisted he was tortured, his torturer insists he was tortured (and has since said "what I did was wrong.") The American soldier who found him has repeatedly insisted that Omar was not the person who threw the grenade. But yet the Canadian government is taking the word of the US government saying that he was not tortured and that he was the only person capable of throwing that grenade.
Canada... socialist utopia, yes.
(I also dislike these people because of the reaction I get when I mention that I might be living in the US someday and I am actually kind of excited about it.)
