ETA: it has been pointed out to me that of course there are some people who can't do this - because although for most of us this just means putting off a little pleasure for a few weeks, for others it's their livelihood as individuals (rather than as vast corporations and media moguls *g*). Personally I think it would be quite wrong to expect or ask anyone in that position to make a massive sacrifice when for most of us it's just a matter of saving a few quid until the next month!
I also think that this is about trying to hit (or at least nudge) giant corporations in their wallets, not about hurting independents. It's the media giants who are supporting these bills (and who have the resources to do so in the first place). I just wanted to spread the word about the initiative, but targeting is important too.
