On Monday, on Tuesday, on Wednesday, on Thursday,
On the first, on the second and on the third
Jenny’s happy and Johnny is bored.

Jenny happily smiles
Throughout the whole year,
And goes out of the house
At 6.30 or near.

Johnny wakes up at twelve
At the weekends or not
He is staying at home,
He is bored.

Jenny walks to work
Down the path from her house,
Through the gate, through the wood
In her best skirt and blouse,
Along the river and over the bridge,
Sometimes walking along the beach.
Then she goes round the corner
And walks to the store,
Puts her key in the lock
And then enters the door.
She walks to the counter,
Right on time to start.
She’s a salesgirl,
She’s cheerful and smart.

Johnny stays at home,
And during the day
Walks across the room
Putting work away.
He sits on the sofa
And in the chair,
He comes up to the window -
That’s rare!
By midday he goes to the fridge and has lunch
Just a sandwich and cola and crisps to crunch.
Then he lies in his bed
Fighting his cough.
And sometimes
he falls off!
So he spends his time of his own accord.
He is lazy, depressed and bored.
