Chuggin' along

Well, I didn't think it was possible, but I have actually discovered something more boring than my job: training other people to do it, or at least part of it anyway. Two new temps came in this week to help with the anticipated spike in one of our processes, and for the past couple of days I've been showing them some of the things they will be doing, and then letting them do actual cases using my machine and watching over their shoulders. They are learning quickly, but I've found out how mind numbing it is when you can't just step back for a couple of minutes and find some interesting article on the net, post to your journal, check your e-mail, etc. Sure these activities are technically wasting company time, but I find that I am actually more productive when I can engage in them over the course of your typical workday, since they allow me to recharge the batteries every so often.

In other news, I went to this new (well, new to the Twin Cities anyway) food emporium called Trader Joe's yesterday on my way to a Camp Quest meeting. I had heard great things about it from a couple of people, and it certainly lived up to the hype, even in the somewhat denuded state in which I found it. It opened on Monday, and by the time I got there two days later many of the shelves were empty, but I did find some cool snacks to bring to the meeting, including a bottle of the famous (infamous?) "Three Buck Chuck" Charles Shaw wine. Once they restock, I encourage all of you to stop in. I just hope they open a location closer to the Bomb Shelter, since going out to St. Louis Park just for groceries is not really an option for me.
