Some guy on CBC the other day was saying it's all about facebook and twitter now. That's where it's at.
Well, wherever it's at, I've gotta get my butt in gear pretty soon and go there. I'm currently on Pender Island to recover from health problems (which I won't go into detail about, since talking about them to anyone other than my doctor is boring as hell for both of us), and the fresh air and forests and mist and mountains in the distance and long rocky beaches and in-your-face NATURE are great for that.
It's also super-quiet. In a way that you wouldn't even notice until you get out of the city long enough to remember that there was constant noise. And you just became so accustomed to it that it slipped under your subliminal notice. But here, it's QUIET. Near-silent at night. Near-silent by day, too. Just bird sounds and maybe the distant hum of a boat. You can see the stars, too. It's pretty cool.
But it's also socially isolating, because there aren't a whole lot of young people here. So if I want a social life between trips into Vancouver, I'm going to have to do it online.
I'm thinking maybe I should have a blog? I could put entertaining stuff up there like nature photographs, pontificating on various subjects and squee threads about various media stuff. I don't think I ever really groked fandom, but I do like to at least talk about tv shows and movies.
I guess the deal is that I'll get well and then decide if I want to move to Vancouver or Calgary. I don't think I'll stay here forever, I need to be in a city. But I'm here for the next year, anyway. So I need to figure out how to have a social life online.
