I'm sorry, but a lightsabre sound has DEFINATELY got a 'v' sound in it somewhere. It's more of a 'vwoOOM'.

Yup.

I think it also has that French J type sound... like the "s" in "vision".

V'jwoooom?

True, true.. you mean like a 'shjs' sound? (silent 's' there)

I heard the original sound came from holding an old-style projector too close to an electrical outlet - made a bizarre humming. They would swing it past the plug giving that sweeping sound. Of course, in the new films they use sound 'equalisers' or some bollocks. What do they know. :)

You just don't get stories like that any more. It's all computers. I mean where is "the Watchowskis came up with the sound for Neo's MegaSuit when a crew member's mobile 'phone made a "duduhduh duduhduh" sound near a PA"?

Meh.

As for the sound, are we going to go with "V'shjsooomn" for now? (The silent "N" was added for texture).

Nice! I like the 'n', it can officially stay. I think we might have perfected it for now. But best run it by Andrew first...

Dont worry im here now!

I essentially concur with V'shjsooomn but i think possibly another 'h' before the 'm' to give it that husky end sound? Thoughts?

Did you add that apostrophe? If so, I concur.. a lightsabre sound has got a sense of two syllables about it. Not sure about the secondary 'h'.. it might sound a touch breathy. But it's worth looking into.

I added the apostrophe with the intention of making it sound as though it was two syllables condensed to being one.

Also, I like the second "H". Like the word "ohm".

"Luke, I am your father" [V'shjsooohmn]
