djmoscow is recording a solo album, in which I participate as a guest artist. I play the theremin and various etherophones. (Etherphones, for those who don’t know, are theremins and similar instruments that you play without touching them. That is, sound is born by the ether!)
We started exactly a year ago. There was a session that started in the evening and ended in the morning. Then more sessions followed, both offline and online (in the second case we were using my studio server, which runs on Haxial KDX).
Yesterday I went to the Gnesin's Jazz College on Bolshaya Ordynka Street, to delve into their music archive and digitize some Russian folk songs. These songs were recorded in the past by musical ethnographers somewhere in the most distant villages, mainly in the north. I went there because
djmoscow came up with the idea that Russian ethno-motifs would fit perfectly into an electronic set.
Now there is finally a reason to demonstrate what we do, because
djmoscow has just posted a fragment of a mix using ethnic music and sent me a link.
P.S. By the way, if you have not subscribed to
DJ Moscow on MySpace yet, I highly recommend you do so.
