Ukiah on a Saturday

I've been trying to get my little blackberry to figure out how to post to LJ, easily so that I will do it often. So far, no luck. It doesn't look like there is an app for that. I have it on my web bookmarks but that takes too many clicks for my convenience.

Out back today a flock of cute little birds sat on the naked branches of a Japanese Maple tree. I took some photos for faeryhead but can't upload them until I get home to my computer. This mac I'm on, work computer, has no hole for my camera card. Old technology sucks.

It got windy. The birds left. Two kids arrived, belonging to the room cleaning lady. They seem happy enough, running around the parking lot and hanging from tree branches. I'm glad they are happy.

I finished a lot of work since I got up at 8. Went for coffee, read my old journal from the last time I was here (4 1/2 yrs ago) which included the trip to Philly and my Dad dying. I did my homework for my writing group tomorrow and made a list of people whom I need to keep in better touch. That sounds grammatically wrong. Also, a little mean, I made a list of people I need to cut. I just dont have enough time to keep up relationships and am spending my nights off going out instead of writing or doing things for myself. I end up getting resentful and grumpy with everything and everyone. Cutting people does not mean that I am going to quit being friends but that I can't give up what little time I have to those who are not in it for the long haul. No is a word I will use more, I hope.

Still to do:
Edit and upload my book to lulu
Clean up my lulu site
Practice for PAC

Portuguese Artist Colony is a funny name for a very good and inventive reading series in SF. I've been invited to be a live writer next month. There are featured readers, a band and 3 live writers. During the break, the band plays while 3 of us are given ten minutes to write a story with a prompt. We each read our story during the second half of the show. One of us wins. The winner is invited back the next month to read her story again which she has 30 days to develop. It is good for notoriety and that is something that I dearly need. I also need this current book to be finished so that I have some street cred and something to sell. My last book was Dec.08 ---too long---
