Orestes From The Getty Villa

In a previous post, I mentioned having gone to the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades a few weeks ago.  In the exhibit room dedicated to the Trojan War, I photographed the fragments of a Greek silver belt from 540-530 B.C. whose plaques told the stories of epic heroes.  There's Zeus defeating Typhon, Perseus fleeing the Gorgons, Athena assisting Perseus, a very fragmentary Theseus and the Minotaur, and a nearly intact Orestes killing Clytemnestra while standing on Aegisthus's corpse.
