How exciting!

I've wanted to do this for ages, but kept not doing so... but following a leaflet in the post today I've signed up with www.milkandmore.co.uk which is Dairy Crest's online service, and starting from next week, we will be having a real milkman delivering a pint of milk every day, and a small veg box every Friday! The veg box will have random fruit ( Read more... )

They seem to be very good and I like the fact that you can pay and order online. Mum uses them and she often realises in the evening that she is low on bread or something and orders it to be delivered the next morning. When we let them know she was moving they said they would deliver a pint of milk to the new address on the morning of moving day so we could have tea when we arrive!

That's so good to hear! Thank you, it's great to hear from people who have used them already.

That sounds terribly grown-up!

It really does, doesn't it? Maybe I am finally turning into my mother... ;-)

(Though my mum gave up having milk deliveries when she moved to Crewe - I wonder if I can persuade her back into them again!)

Ooh! We get deliveries on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays - 2, 2 and 3 pints of milk for Rob, and on Saturdays we also get a dozen eggs. It's really helpful, and it means we can buy organic milk in reusable containers, and I never have to get two kids and eggs home from the shop without smashing something or someone. We haven't done the veg box thing because we know from experience that we manage better buying that at the market.

Incidentally, if there IS a street market near you, the veg there is probably cheaper than at Tesco...

Yes, I have bought veg on the market before now; I had several weeks where I did just that, for veg and meat, but then the time factor got in the way.

I'm going to see how we go with the veg box; it might not work out, and I'm not sure how one pint a day will work out either so I can refine things as I go along, but I love the idea of fresh milk landing on the doorstep every morning!

Mum and I have been veg and fruit boxing for a while - we've just upgraded to a big box so my sister can join. That said, we've asked not to have potatoes as we found they took up too much of the box.

We have ours every other Tuesday - last night i got to play light sabres in mum's kitchen with some rather fine rhubarb.

Excellent - I'll see how I go with the veg box, it might not suit us, but definitely worth a try!

And rhubarb light sabres sounds like a lot of fun! :-)

I get daily deliveries from Dairy Crest and they're fab. I started about 18 months ago when some people knocked on the door asking if I'd be interested in milk deliveries! I signed up straight away and love it. I still pay by cheque as I don't want to sign up to the website, but I love getting my little glass bottle of milk on the weekdays!
