1. I went to the library this morning. On My Own. I cycled there straight from the school run, and chose my books in complete peace and tranquility. It was blissful. I have chosen 5 books (we are allowed to have 20 but I'd only lose/forget them and have to pay astronomical fines...). I managed to find 2 Maeve Binchys I have never read before, which I thought was good going!
2. Sadly I didn't manage to find 'Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging' despite looking for it extensively, so following our conversation last night,
weblet_h, please may I borrow yours? Thank you :-)
3. We had games night last night which was lots of fun as usual, and involved Boggle, Scattergories and Shut The Box, malteser cakes, which were extremely delicious, and lots and lots of talk about books and school-y things. I really enjoyed it.
4. This lunchtime I took myself off to the pool and went for a swim. It is ages since I did that and I really enjoyed it. I managed to swim 54 lengths, which is a mile; I was aiming for 40 lengths and then when I got there I still had time to spare so I just kept going! It got very crowded for a while but eased off again eventually, and I think I enjoyed the shower I had afterwards almost as much as I enjoyed the swim! (We haven't got a shower at home so I do tend to get very excited about them...). I'll definitely be going again soon.
5. As I came out of the swimming baths, I met Year Three from the children's school just going in for their weekly swimming lesson. I was very glad to have got out of the changing rooms before they went in!!
6. We had M here to play with Little Three after school today. I think she enjoyed herself; she was very quiet - I am not used to quiet children and kept asking her if she was okay!
7. Tim's gone to his Polish lesson so it is up to me to do bedtime tonight. If I get L3 to bed nice and early, I might be able to read another chapter of 'The Runaway Summer' by Nina Bawden to L1 and L2. It is long enough ago since I read it that I can't remember anything about it, which means each chapter is as new to me as it is to them, and we are enjoying it, but the chapters are very long so we have to pick our times! We are managing about one chapter a week.
8. I am tired enough after my long swim to think I might be in bed with a book myself, soon after the children are in bed! The thought of snuggling down and reading is very appealing!
