so, fun times in china. did you hear about the earthquake in taiwan a little while ago? yeah, since then, we've had limited access to international websites and phone lines. today's the first day i've been able to check email etc in... a week and a half maybe? i'm not sure. it's taken me like an hour and a half to get livejournal to load this far.

Maybe you could negotiate a visit back home (incl. return fare) before the start of your new contract. A few of my coworkers in Beijing did that when they renewed their contracts as teachers.

I'm glad to see you're alright! I was starting to get a bit worried. :-) That's crazy that an earthquake so far away would affect your internet connection, but I guess that's communism for ya. Did you guys ever decide if you'd get the oven or not? :-)
