i feel like i haven't been posting very much lately. i don't know what i've been doing instead. i don't quite know where my time gets to sometimes. well, fair enough, my computer was broken for a while. and i was kinda sick the last few days, so not willing to expend the energy required to think of stuff to say on here. but still.

it was pretty warm here today. we've had a few cold days, but today i was hot in my sweater. it definitely doesn't feel like november, and thank goodness for that. central heating won't turn on for another few weeks, i think, regardless of temperature. i think one of my next purchases will be an extra blanket. i'm also planning on shopping for some more winter clothes sometime soon. and speaking of shopping, man. i totally forgot that due to time things take to arrive in the mail, my christmas shopping needs to be done asap. today i bought a hat. not a warm winter hat, necessarily, but a warm-ish fashion hat. i don't know why i buy these. i've bought them before and i wear them a lot at first then just stop. maybe this one will be different. i'll wear it home from work tonight. it hangs over my eyes some, so maybe it'll be my new disguise so not as many people can tell i'm not chinese. as if my hips didn't give me away;)

my classes get better and better. i definetly do better with teaching when i'm used to it. my adult classes are better now that i've started using some lesson ideas i found online. this is the same lesson i thought i learned two years ago: i can't write consistently good lesson plans on my own:) the internet is invaluable. no need for me to reinvent the wheel, as someone i know used to love to say.

one of the cts (chinese teachers) wants me to give her a new english name. she asked me sunday and i think she's annoyed i haven't thought of one yet. she wants it to start with "m" and be romantic. i have a baby name book, so i'm going to look though there to see what i can find.

last night, jen and i watched "babe," and afterwards i insisted on going on imdb to see what else a lot of those voice actors have done and she teased me for my nerdiness:) but man! who knew the person who voiced the cat also does a lot of voices for the simpsons! i thought it sounded like the moaning myrtle voice from harry potter, but i was wrong.

in another couple weeks we have mid-terms. should be interesting.

my chinese continues to improve. there's a marked improvement from when i got here, for sure.

i'm thinking of trying to get a haircut next week. it's a risky proposition, as a lot of people here have pretty... non-desirable-for-me haircuts. lots of, uh, poofy up top and stringy down by the shoulders looks, and fro-like crimping. i'll try to avoid both of these looks.
