welp, i'm officially on vacation for the week. i had one class today, from 6:30 till 8:30 earlier tonight. i was antsy the whole time, not really wanting to work. right now, jen, claire, rich, aaron, rod, tammy, and rachelle are on a train to shanghai. clara and i had hot pot at some little cheap place on the street. tomorrow morning, at 7:30, we get on a train bound for the other most-well-known chinese city--beijing. clara's never been, so it'll be fun to wander a little. if i can find an atm that takes my card, the big shopping i'm planning on doing in beijing will be for dvds. i need some new clothes though too, so we'll see what happens. our break is frustratingly short, so we'll leave beijing after maybe a couple days, and we'll hit zhangjiakou so clara can see the great wall and i can see zhangjie's family again. i guess we might just spend a day there. niether clara nor i have a camera, so expect no pictures of this trip:) unless zhangjie takes them and emails them to me. ah well. i'm not going anywhere i haven't been a million times already. probably:) so here's a picture to pretty much sum up where i'm going:
the wall to my left is the great wall.
today, two of the cts (chinese teachers from my school) stopped by the apartments after class to take care of something with clara. they stopped in my room because i wanted them to look at the characters on my wall to see if i made any mistakes. they did find a few, but overall, their feedback was better than i expected. vivian said my handwriting looks just like hers:) now if only i could remember how to write these characters without having to copy them stroke for stroke out of a book...
so yeah, anyway. happy national day everyone! and happy mid-autumn festival! may your mooncakes me plentiful and your mosquito bites be small.
再见! (that's zai jian, or goodbye in chinese if you computer doesn't read characters)
