south korea

dear lj,

hey! we made it to south korea! hooray! i've just decided to burn one of my time-killing activities right off the bat. i'm stuck here in this airport for the next 19 hours. i don't understand anything anyone's saying and i can only read signs with english translations. i thought about braving the city outside after all, but then remembered that would mean trying to communicate with a fair number of people who may or may not speak english. so i'm just gonna chill here instead. after my hour on here, i'll only have 18 hours to kill!

the money in korea is throwing me off. at least in china, the number of yuan you pay for something is somewhat close to the number of dollars you might pay in america. but i just paid 3000 won for an hour of internet. my bottle of coke was 1200 won. i need to get back to china, where i know what's expensive and what's cheap.

this coke is unspeakably delicious. wow.

my travels so far have been pretty good. stressful, but good:) i'm glad this airport is more like the ones in china than the ones in america. i'm sitting outside the international arrivals gate and there are stores and restaurants and places to sit everywhere. i've noticed this not to be the case in many places in america. i wonder what this place'll look like at 3 a.m.

my plan was, and probably still is, to try to stay up all night here. i have a sneaking suspicion i won't be able to:) i (whoa, i just accidentally turned on the korean typing thing 아ㅑㅑ돠 ㅈ!) didn't get much sleep last night now i'm a billion hours ahead and my body feels like it's one in the morning or something, but it's really only 5 in the evening... ah well. as anxious as i am to finally get to china already, it's interesting to be here. and i got another stamp on my passport:)

when i was buying my pop a few minutes ago though, i was looking at other products and had a big wave of "oh crap, i'm in the land of snack food that makes me want to vomit again." ah well. who needs snack food, anyway:)

yay travel!

and thanks to everyone who commented on my last post:) i haven't read the comments yet, but will as soon as i finish writing this.

tomorrow this time, i'll be in a familiar city, with a familiar person, catching up on old times or sleeping. yes.
