travel motif

i think travel is my favorite motif, for reading, for writing, for music, for anything. for some reason, i find traveling at night, in particular, very romantic. the quiet out a dark window never ceases to feel otherworldly to me.

last week, i drove through tennessee, virginia, maryland, west virginia, delaware, new jersey, pennsylvania, new york, connecticut, and massachussetts.

i think i spent about $300 on gas and tolls. cheapest gas was bought in atkins, virginia ($2.579/gal). most expensive gas was in southbury, connecticut ($3.179/gal).

i put over 2000 miles on my car.

because i'm planning on selling my car in august, i'm glad i got to go on such a long roadtrip. i'll have another few yet before i kiss driving goodbye.

tomorrow i'm going to call that company about the china teaching position. i say tomorrow instead of today because i'm going to use skype, and i don't know where my brother's mic is right now. they're still advertising openings, which is good. in fact, they're still advertising openings for this summer even. i hate hate hate things getting so far behind. blah.

travel, before china
