today, i taught my morning class the words throw up, vomit, puke, hurl, spew, and blow chunks. why? cause that's what i spent six or seven hours doing yesterday:) hoo-ray food poisoning!
i think i ate something bad at the all-you-can-eat buffet i went to the night before, christmas night. i went with daniel and nathaniel. it was a 460 yuan meal and show we got into for free, on account of being western. but we had to work for our "free" meal. we three were part of the entertainment. they seated us directly in the middle of the room, where we were easily visible from everywhere. james, the chinese guy who stuck to us like glue all night, told us he wanted us being as sociable as possible all night. i got pulled away from my meal at one point to have a picture taken with a random guest. then, during the show (which was really good), we were expected to participate in as many of the games they played as possible. i did two. i did the first one, which involved putting on a twirly skirt that was too small for my western hips and doing a model walk down the runway. six of us did this, and i won, even beating the sloppily drunk estee lauder salesman who later breathed in my face and gave me his phone number, giggling and asking if we could be "long-time friends." everytime a western song was played, it was dedicated to us. throughout the show, people kept coming over and offering us jobs and/or asking for our phone numbers. much to my surprise and disappointment, daniel and nathaniel gave their phone number out to anyone who asked, which made me feel like i should. but it was a fun evening, really. until 3 a.m., when i started puking.
before that party, we went to a nice get-together with mike and cindy from des moines. that wasn't much more than eating fudge and playing one of those games where everyone buys a gift and you spend an hour picking one out or stealing from someone else who already picked one that you liked or whatever. you know the type i mean, right?
before that, we nine from my school plus two others from a different school got together for a really great breakfast. we had bacon and eggs and rolls and pancakes and even poptarts (i'm sure those were mailed from home by someone's family).
before that, my family called me:) that was really great. i hadn't talked to them since i left home in august. i mean, we've emailed, but we haven't talked. and i got to talk to the whole family, since everyone was over for christmas eve. it was super fun to get to talk to everyone. definetly a highlight of my christmas.
