When my web designer told me he needed an author photo for my website, I panicked. I imagined having to pay a professional photographer hundreds of dollars for a posed glamour shot that looks nothing like me. Instead, I decided to do it my own way. That's why a couple of weekends ago, I grabbed my amateur-photographer husband, Steven, his camera, my stepson, Jonathan, our little Yorkie, Toto, and headed for Whidbey Island.
I figured the best way to get a picture that looked like the real me would be to take it in my favorite spot in the world. So Steven, Jonathan, Toto, and I (and the camera), headed down to Double Bluff Beach.
We walked along the beach.
Jonathan climbed the bluffs.
And we took photos.
Lots of photos. Including this one of me, which I hereby dub my official Author Photo:
