Snowdays and other babble

So we have a snowday today! I went downstairs to go to my Biopsych class after my usual routine of rushing around to get ready without checking my email, and then comically froze in shock when I saw that two feet of SNOW was piled outside the dorm. So my Biopsych and French classes are cancelled, of course.

This is the first snow day I think I've had at college that I've been able to appreciate. Last Wedenesday it rain/sleeted heavily and I still had to go to Biopsych and French, and only my lovely Jane Austen seminar was cancelled. My roommate and I also didn't know it was cancelled, so we were the only ones who showed up. Lol. You'd think as roommates one of us would get the message.

Last year it snowed on Valentine's Day, and my phenomenally stupid Stat teacher didn't email us, so I hiked all the way to class only to discover that it had been cancelled. And then my French teacher didn't email us until about an hour before class, so I spent the day thinking I still had to go. As for the worst of it, Rob couldn't even come down to see me because of the roads.

I think every Valentine's Day for us except the first (we went to Medieval Times!) something has gone wrong. Last week we were supposed to go to the gun range and then come back to watch Emma (for class *squee*), but Rob got stuck in traffic for so long that the range closed, and then it turned out that Emma didn't air until this week, so we spent Valentine's not doing much, except I baked muffins. And then we were supposed to go to dinner that weekend and try shooting again, but the restaurant was closed when we wanted to go and the range too crowded, so again our plans went awry. This is why we don't plan. :P

Finally, we got to go to dinner this Monday, at this placed called the Garlic Rose. I wanted to go for nostalgia purposes because I went over 5 years ago when I was a senior in high school. Alyson and Alyson's mother came from Tennessee to look at Drew and a few other schools on the East Coast, and of course let me join them. I remember I hated Drew at the time. Can't remember why exactly, except the tour guide seemed miserable and the dorms and classrooms seemed drab and depressing. And it may have been a grey day, so the beauty of the campus was not shown to good purpose.

Anyway, despite the fact that Alyson and I had met and spent five weeks together in Paris the year before, the first time we had escargot was at the Garlic Rose, so when I went with Rob we ordered escargot and baked brie and all that awesome Frenchie stuff. Mwahaha. It's quite a pleasure to see Rob eat "surrender monkey" food. He also is exposed to incessant chatter about Jane Austen books and movies nowadays, and he bears it quite beautifully, although he fall asleep during Emma last night while my roommate and I fawned over Mr. Knightly. Lol. He did watch all of the 6-hour version of Pride and Prejudice with me a couple years ago, and Northanger Abbey a few weeks ago though...wow. Rob is so awesome. :)

Anyway, other things are good. I got in plot for the first time for Medfest, playing a gyspy hooker, and rehearsals are a lot of fun, and I'm on chessboard, having a four-way catfight, which will be amusing when we start blocking it. Classes are stressful, and I'm kinda just binding my time before I gradute, but I'm ok with that for the moment. Amy is coming in a few weeks, thankfully during spring break (yay!)I'm seeing Celtic Woman in New York. So things are pretty good.

Yeah, ok, just thought I'd post for the first time in forever! Love you all!
