oh my gosh, I guess you are totally right about the girl at the end, but because I am an incurable optimist, I choose to believe that it's less sinister, and more like: I want to sleep with you AND have an emotional connection with you (like, fucking + breakfast!) which is really what I feel like he's looking for. It's not that he doesn't want to have sex at all, it's just...also with breakfast. A lot of the movie is him being all "And now..breakfast?" and people saying "Yeah...nooo."
But, yeah, when she started that 6am thing, I thought it was "OMG NOW THEY ARE GOING TO TALK ALL NIGHT. TALK. Maybe cuddle! ALSO WITH THE TALKING." and then it turned out differently.
I didn't even get into his 'relationship' with Olivia Munn, which I thought was actually one of the most horribly bleak and cruel parts of the movie, because of the way he's constantly calling her, thinking they have a connection, and she really just wants to fuck him and only talked to him to use him for her thesis or whatever. The scene where they're fully clothed and you think they're talking--and he clearly called her up, wanting to talk--and then she gets up and puts on her underwear and you realize, NOPE, JUST A BOOTY CALL: ouch. And then the scene where he goes to talk to her in the restaurant and her fiance isn't even threatened by him--like, he's such a zero to her on an emotional level that he doesn't even matter! he's just a body!--MAN. That was rough. In some ways, it was worse than all the crap that Matthew McConaughey put him through, because this woman is training to be a psychiatrist, for god's sake!
