Since I've been home,
Saw Saul Williams- rocked my socks off (and I still can't find them.) Ran into tons of kids while I was there, and aside from the new and greatly appreciated lifting of the curfew, I found that I still felt a lot like I did in high school. It's amazing how quickly that kind of sick, sinking feeling sets in after being in this house for too long, how the cigarettes and the actual people involved in the actual activites participated in seem to conveniently not find themselves mentioned in the relaying of the story later.
"Who's this poet guy?"
"Saul Williams"
"What does he write about?"
(me trying to avoid the truth) "umm.. He's really ..spiritual..."
(stupidly honest Jordan:)"He's really political"
"OH- pretty leftist then, huh?"
"Yes."
"WEll, then go see what the enemy has to say if you HAVE to, Stephanie."
My stepdad is not a bad person. Jesse described it perfectly, "He's this really nice guy who is just unnaturally conservative."
All of you who have been around at one of those awkward times know also, that he has no tact. Zero. It's unbelievable.
New short stories to come: will be posted after all revisions are complete. I'm doing really really well in that class, generally getting all positive feedback. And it's a tough crowd out there. Maybe I'm not as far behind as I thought I was; Maybe liberal arts was the way to go.
