And the journey begins.

Left late yesterday because my stupid Tracfone took forever to activate. Yes, it's a cell phone. $14.95 at Target. Pay as you go. I promised my family I'd get one for this reunion trip. Considering I'll be putting about 4000 miles or more on Casper, I guess I understand their concern. This, in no way, means I've joined the 21st century. I still hate cellphones.

Stopped in Mason City for lunch at Bennigans. Guinness glazed hamburger and a dessert they call "Death by Chocolate." Dutch chocolate and rocky road icecream swirled with twix cookie on a bed of crumbled oreos and chocolate crackle shell over the top. Yep, If I had to die, that'd be the way to go.

Called my sister from a rest stop in Nebraska on the dreaded cellphone and she was stuck in traffic on the way up to Lake Tahoe with my cousins, Diarmuid and Rosemary, from Letterkenny, Donegal, Ireland. I've been cruising along at about 90mph on I-80. Rolling hills through some really pretty farmland. And a few areas that remind me of Donegal, actually.

Stayed in Kearney, Nebraska, last night at a Ramada Inn. Which is why I'm online just now. I don't have a laptop, but if I get access along the way I want to keep a journal of this trip. It's 8:10am now and I need to get on the road......
