Absolute rubbish

Dumbo passed away on Monday, I'm not really sure when on Monday, but she was gone by the evening when I went to give her her medicine.

Recently she got a very bad upper restory infection, very common in Rats, but Dumbo was extremely ill, so ill she could'nt eat or drink by herself. I became her bed nurse so to speak.

She was by my side for three days before I was happy she could eat and drink herself. She actually started to make a very good recovery. Her operation incision had healed to perfection, and her sudden infection was getting better.

Monday morning I gave her her medicine, she was quite strong and recently I had been trying to fatten her up by giving her two tabke spoons of full fat greek yogurt a day. It seemed to be working, plus she really enjoyed it. She tried to resist me on Monday morning though which I thought was good. A clear sign she was getting better and stronger (even though she only weighed 213g very small for a rat her age and body build with the op and illness she had lost a fair bit and I was hoping she would gain weight through the upcoming weeks)

Bur unfortunetly on Monday the 6th I found her curled up, and well yeah...

It was obviously a shock as only that morning she seemed almost back to normal, spite her weight.

I'm not going to lie, I cried like a baby. A big blubbery baby, but I don't care. She was part of the family and I loved her dearly. It's true she had a temprement, she disliked being handled with avengence but was also very loving and cuddly when she felt like it.

I'm still really upset and as I type a few tears have escaped. I only had her for a short year, I adopted her last summer. When I adopted her they were not sure of her age but due to what's happened I'm going to say she was deffinitly 2 and maybe a little bit older but I can never know for sure.

I miss you Dumbo, more than you will ever realise.

R.I.P my friend.

(a picture of Dumbo the day I found her 2 weeks ago when she was so ill it was touch and go. I nursed her that night until I could get her to the vets. She was a fighter)

I miss her :(
