I have about 5,000 other work-in-progress fics dealing with the aftermath, but this one seemed to write itself today. I'm just still sifting through how I feel about the finale, because until I can wrap my head around what happened, I can't really speak for the other characters.

I absolutely loved these scenes. ALL of them, including the meeting with Thatcher and bonding with Derek. They really should be on the show!

The ways in which Alex and Mark deal with Lexie in the aftermath of the shooting - something like defense mechanisms vs easy intimacy - sound very in character to me. Great continuation of this jaw-dropping handholding going on in 6x24. And I really hurt for Alex, too, but I don't think that Lexie's sticking with him would ever succeed in easing the hurt he's feeling anyway.

You are always great with detail, and my favorite this time: peanut butter. I love that they both know, and use their knowledge to show her they care, and yet, the contrast between their messages is so striking that I'm starting to doubt that you are a A/L shipper after all ;-)

As for Lexie, I'm totally with you on the idea that she didn't tell Alex about her ILY to him, and about meeting Mr Clark. It's such a great idea to have Mark come up with this suspicion on his own, and I love the reason she cites for keeping it a secret, "Compared to what they went through, nothing happened to me." Such a deliciously Lexie kind of guilt complex.

And the last scene? - Leaves me speechless with envy of your writing. :-) Love it, so much. ♥

First of all, thank you so much for commenting...I love you fic, so it means so much coming from you :)

I'm glad you picked up on so many little details that mean the world to Lexie, but could be overlooked by others.

Here's my stance on A/L: I love Alex opening up to Lexie. I like watching his character grow and open up, etc. That being said, I do not think Lexie is over Mark and I also don't think she realizes this. The more he opens up, I think the more scared she becomes. I'm also convinced the "I love you" was more about her thinking Alex was dying than actually loving him. I also am convinced it may have something to do with Mark telling her he loved her the episode before.

I wanted to show her talking to Mark in a way she doesn't talk to other people, Alex included, in order to realize who it is she really loves. I'm so glad that came through.

Thanks again for reading...by the way, I'm really upset that I only just noticed you wrote post-finale fic! Now I know what I'm reading tonight :)
