Don't get wrong - it certainly contains parts which I liked. It just wasn't really what I expected since Ryan himself didn't appeared at all (so we don't know if anything is different for him now) and Julie seems clueless to the events in the chapters before. But I assume this 'being in limbo' feeling I got will be resolved with the final chapter.
Julie seems clueless to the events in the chapters before.
She is--everyone is. They went back to a few seconds before Julie made her wish, and this time when she wished she'd never met Ryan, the demon couldn't grant her wish, since she didn't have the necklace. I'll obviously need to make that clearer in the next chapter ;)
Without Ryan to point out to Marissa that Julie was the only mom she'd ever got and that she should try her best to get along with her, Kirsten was sure that the girl wouldn't even say "hi" to Julie if they met in the street. This always bugged me. Julie hated Ryan so much but he was a major reason that Marissa even reconciled with her mother. Apart from the whole Alex thing, when she *did* sort of realize it.
Aw, thanks brandy--I was terrified people were going to hate this part... I don't think Julie ever realized it--at best, she's civil to Ryan when she needs him to keep Marissa inline (dare I say I'm scared of what she'll do now that Marissa's dead?). And yes, Ryan always tried to protect Marissa from Julie's indiscretions.
dare I say I'm scared of what she'll do now that Marissa's dead? Probably blame her death on him. :( I just hope that if that happens the Cohens will not just stand back and let her get through with it like they did so often before. It's time for them to take a stand for him.
It is, esp since Marissa's death is going to eat him alive. He won't need Julie to add stress on top of that. But then, I've never understood the Cohens' attitude when it comes to Julie, so who knows what they'll do.
Is it bizarre that this chapter makes me think most about recent developments in canon and all the possible scenarios? I'm grateful that your Kirsten, at least, makes her feelings for Ryan known to Julie, isn't steamrolled, and while she is still passive and doesn't press as much as she should, there is at least the pretense of defense, protection and support. It does make me wonder about and fear for the future in canon, but it also provides some reassurance that Kirsten does have the courage and fortitude and moral responsibility to rise to the occasion

I'm sure she does. I just don't understand why she doesn't do it more often (or, you know, at all). It would give Kelly Rowan something to do at long last.
She will never admit it to anyone, not even herself, but she has no qualms about using him for his strength of character. Can you spell hypocrite?
You know, I keep wondering how she would defend herself if Sandy or Kirsten called her on her behavior toward Ryan--how would she justify framing Ryan (and I'm sorry, but the truth was more than enough to exonerate Marissa), coming to him for help when it suits her and threaten him when she feels like it.
I wonder if there will be any "memory," even a hint, of any AU, or how you will have the characters interact. No memory; they came back to where this all started, so no one but the demon will know anything happened--and I need to add a

There have been so many times where Kirsten has said or done nothing when it was glaring apparent that Ryan was being mistreated or at least insulted and hurt in some way. I've wanted to literally shake her since there is no way she would tolerate that sort of behavior if Seth were the target. And it would certainly give her something to do. She would, once and for all, have to commit to Ryan and decide if he truly is family and important to her, or if the superficial trappings of Newport and someone like Julie Cooper are instead

Not to mention what it would provide for the Cohens+1 and the message it would send to Ryan instead of the mixed signals he receives
We both seem to always end up talking about it, don't we? But it makes sense--that's the thing that bothers me the most about lack of continuity on the show...
I liked it, Helen, didn't understand everything, but that is irrelevant. Always enjoy hearing Kirsten's voice and here she is very plausible, realising nothing will come easy for Ryan.
Am intrigued by the demon being so upset and most annoyed with self for not remmebering the original ep in more detail.
Yeah; I just wish she'd do something about it in canon (sigh.)
In the episode, once Giles destroyed Anya's necklace in the AU, things went back to what they were a few seconds before Cordy made her wish. But when Cordy made her wish again, since Anya didn't have her necklace anymore, she couldn't grant it. I'll add something about the demon in the next chapter, since I seem to have confused people ;)

I guess I just have to see what you have in stock for the final one.
