Oh, this looks like it is going to be great! I love crack!fic when it this is well done. And combining the OC and the Buffy-verse can only lead to good things. I also really liked "The Wish", and can't wait to see where you will go with this.
Does the fact that you already know how many parts there will be mean you have more to post soon?

He he, if you've seen The Wish, I'm sure you can take an educated guess as to where I'm going with this... *whistles innocently*

Yes, everything is written an beta'd, so barring RL emergencies, I should be able to update once or twice a week.

Thanks, arualms!

Now I'm scared. I was hoping you would only borrow the concept. Not sure if I can make it through yet another Ryan-death!fic. But YAY! for lots of updates in a row.

Now, didn't I promise you I wouldn't kill Ryan anymore? 0:-)

Wow! I have never really watched Buffy, so I probably will only understand the o.c. part, but please have some Ryan in it? Please?? I fear for Marissa, she's dead now, right? Because without Ryan she would've totally fallen off the cliff *evil grin*

Can't wait to read more!

Don't worry about your lack of Buffy knowledge, I merely borrowed situations and concepts, not characters.

Of course, there'll be some Ryan in it--jut not right away.

Of course Marissa liked him, he agreed to everything she said.

Nicely barbed comment there, Helen.

And this also sometimes complained that she was obsessed with the boy. Which she wasn't-she was merely obsessed with the influence he had on her daughter. That was very different.

Very much enjoyed this prologue, and I too can see the potential for where this could go. Intriguing and Julie voice is fun.

Hehe, I didn't even notice I was doing that...

Thanks, fred. It was an experience writing in Julie's POV for a while, even if in hindsight, I probably made her a little over the top.

This promises to be interesing- and educational, since I've never seen or read anything "Buffy" related ( ... )

the charisma to attract and draw people to him honestly, without manipulation, and to connect with them without resorting to strong arming or other unpleasant tactics.

That, and the fact that they see him as a gold-digger, because they can't conceive that people have other preoccupations than getting as indecently rich as possible.

she not only looks down on Ryan, but on those around her.

But see, I think Julie is slightly less superficial than the other Newpsies. Whatever else you might think about her, she at least has *some* principles, and she does stick to her friends, sometimes.

I don't think she considers anyone but Kirsten a friend.

Of course, this won't be all about "M." :D Who do you take me for?

Thanks, beach--I hope I can keep you interested, even though you don't know Buffy.

I think the Newpsies of both genders would see Ryan as being like Trey- out for the material and out for himself at their expense. As you and I both allude, they can't fathom him wanting to connect and find a place to belong where people actually care about him. They simply project their own desires on him and add this labels and misjudgements along with the filter ( ... )

Buffy was a great show. Believe me. In fact, I'm starting to think that anything Joss produces/writes has the potential for greatness.

ITA on Julie--what I meant was, Kirsten is more of a friend than any of the other Newpsies. We've all seen that Julie was more than willing to risk that friendship when it suited her needs (Hi, Ryan, how's that jail thing going for you?)
